⚓ BETA SIGN-UPS AND CLAIMING ARE OPEN ⚓
Welcome to the Everything Beta post! For easy reference, please check out the Introduction & Guidelines, the Prompting post, and the Claiming post. If you’re curious and haven’t checked out the other posts, claiming is still open! However, this post is officially for those who want to provide any of their beta-ing services to our current writers :)
For those who have questions about what a beta does, I’ve provided a short FAQs section below the cut to help answer some questions. If you’re still unsure about it, please don’t hesitate in asking me questions! I’ll answer them as quickly as possible and to the best of my abilities.
Frequently Asked Questions;
⚓ What exactly is a beta?
A beta is the shorter term for beta reader. A beta reader is someone (maybe you?) who helps a writer with proofreading, editing, finding loopholes, etc. with his/her/their story. A beta reader may even be someone willing to help bounce ideas around with the writer and a new friend!.
⚓ So, how does this work?There are a couple of forms linked below. One is to allow anyone to sign up as a beta reader, allowing you to become available to any writer looking for a beta. The second (future) link will lead you to a spreadsheet of the betas available. The third (future) link will allow writers to request a beta’s services.
⚓ Is becoming a beta reader mandatory?No, it definitely isn’t! However, if you wish to become one, you are definitely welcomed to!
⚓ What if I’m already a beta for a writer in this fest? or What if I already have someone who will look over my story for me?If either of this is the case, then you don’t need to sign up and/or you don’t necessarily have to look for one. This is okay!
⚓ How long does this event last?This event will be open until the last day of postings! So, there is no need to rush to sign up to be one or any rush to search for one until you need one. (Although if you do finish your story early and you cannot find a beta with preferences that match your story, please let me know and I’ll see what I can do ;u;)
Extra Information;
⚓ If you are signing up to become a beta and offer your services, please be aware that you are not to discuss your writer’s story anywhere else. Your associated author needs to remain anonymous until the end of the fest when the master list and reveals are done.
⚓ You may beta up to however many stories you believe you can handle. My only request is that you don’t wear yourself out doing this! This applies to writers too! I’m here if you need anything.
⚓ The rest of the guidelines and information are included within the sign-up form. Please read all the little notes and descriptions carefully as you fill it out. If you find yourself signing up and wanting to withdraw your services before an author requests to work with you, please let me know ASAP and I will remove your information from the list.
⚓ For the purpose of viewing the spreadsheet and claiming a beta, the spreadsheet and that form will not be up for another week or two until enough people have signed up to offer their services. If you need a beta ASAP however, let me know through DM or email and I’ll try to help you ASAP.
⚓ The Beta Spreadsheet and Claiming Form are now up! I am still accepting sign-ups for betas, but I’m also surprised by how many stories kaifectionery’s current betas are willing to read! Don’t hesitate to check this out and please contact me in any form if you need any help. This goes for those who want to become betas and those who want one! :)
